I upgraded to this .5" mat after using the 5mm mat from Retrospec for years. My partner has the 1" mat, and that one is too thick for me - it makes balancing more difficult. the .5" is a great compromise. It's very supportive of my knees and wrists, but I can still do standing balances on it. My only complaint is that it's not as long or as wide as my 5mm mat was. I am 5'10" and I really liked the extra long length of my old mat. I just barely fit on this one when I'm lying down. Overall, I'm glad I bought it. The color is great, it's supportive, and it doesn't slip.
